![]() Super Paper Mario cannot get out of its own way with the incessant dialogue, which ends up sticking out even more in this particular case because the game is more platformer than RPG. The original Paper Mario, great as it is, borrows heavily from its predecessor, Super Mario RPG, and, as is the issue with every single Paper Mario game in existence, just keeps going beyond the point where I want to be playing it any longer - just know I’m thinking this when I highlight a different issue from the other Paper Mario titles in the next graf. It feels like there is always something keeping these games from being better than they are, though, even if what they are tends to be, baseline, pretty good. That is not to say that there is no enjoyment to be found in the Paper Mario games that already exist: the initial Paper Mario ranked 75th on this list, and its sequel is sitting here within the top 50. It’s even easier than Super Mario RPG on the SNES! But with that being said, it’s still a very enjoyable experience. The gameplay mechanics are executed pretty well, and the game is a lot of fun, but it has a problem which bothers people like I, and is very common among Mario games it’s waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too easy. ![]() ![]() You obtain one in each chapter of the game. The only way to open the Thousand Year Door is to collect all of the crystal stars. The treasure is behind the Thousand Year Door. Rogueport is a treacherous town with infamous thieves. ![]() Mario sets out on water to a town known as Rogueport. ![]() The plot of the game is that you’ve received a treasure map from Peach, and that she wants you to join her on the journey. Paper Mario TTYD is the Mario RPG for the Gamecube. ![]()
